Tenant Shop

I have this week used the services of this company when I moved into my new rented property.
They claim to search for the best deals for you. Through them I switched my energy supplier... However I have got a bad deal on broadband.
Offered via Sky I could of paid £20 extra and got the same offer via Sky themselves and got a £75 M&S voucher as well.
My issue isn't with the deal I got but more the fact they claim to search for the best deal for you, when clearly there are much better deals out there!

You always have to check. And take responsibility for your wn decisions.
By all means use others for advice & suggestions, whether a financial adviser, a comparison site, the financial pages of a newspaper, or a 'tenant shop'.
But all these people are making money somewhere, so at the end of the day you make your own mind up. The decision in the end is yours.0 -
You've learnt a couple of valuable lessons. Advertising is often misleading. And you should always shop around (even between comparison sites) if you really want the best deal."Real knowledge is to know the extent of one's ignorance" - Confucius0

Whatever you want to do or have done, there are always intermediaries who'll claim they can get you the best deal.
Sometimes they can, which is why some of us use brokers for insurance or independent mortgage advisors, but often the intermediary just refers business to another party in exchange for a kick-back payment. That's how they[STRIKE] leech a living[/STRIKE] survive.
As others have said, it's your responsibility to research and check deals, rather like you've now done, because there is no magic button to press. Sites like MSE can do much of the work for you, however, so you are in the right place, even if you've arrived a bit late.0 -
They might make money via commission, maybe the M&S deal didn't apply to them.0

(and certainly not the 'best' which is often not the same).
MSE and others can provide some information, and make suggestions, but you still have to make the decision yourself as it is not 100% reliable.
Like this advice too.0
