Reading old cd roms

Having a clear out have come across a small cache of free cd roms. Some of the content looks quite interesting - Start Trek Academy Encyclopedia and a full mission against the Klingons; Ultimate race Pro; Armored Fist; Speedster on the Atlantic Trail; Yoda Stories demo; Rollercoaster Tycoon three full version
As you can tell from the versions these are pretty old. Still I have a no longer used but full working order PC Windows XP Pro full version and a CD reader sitting in a corner. Worth a try to see if they work? Or is there some way to run a simulation on my current Windows 7 Pro (which also has a cd reader/player)?

personally i would use virtualBox and install XP, as that old stuff may not know where some of my newer system files are, and i would not want to mess up my current set up for an old game.
If you are not using that old pc, then it could be worth a try. The difficulty is if it needs to download something extra for xp like old .net that ms may have pulled.0 -
They might run okay, or you might need to manually run them with Administrative privileges, or you might need to run them in compatibility mode:

As above, if you have a spare XP licence, you could run the games in Virtualbox. Some games require direct access to the video card, so you might have problems.
