OSO hotwater rs m usage help!!?
Options
Hello,
So I moved into this flat in October, I've only ever he'd electric storage heaters and used them efficiently on cheap night mater rates. However this new flat has an electric boiler and cylinder hot water system. The landlord had no instruction manuals for the system. It's so cold in here I just switched all the switches on and would press the boost button to get heat through the radiators.
I've just had my first quarterly bill. 400£!!! I am a single person in a 1 bed flat, I work full time and spend weekends away, this did not seem feasible. After investigation, we feel the s electric heating is to blame for excessive usage.
I can't find any instructions online, so was hoping someone here had any experience of how to use electric boiler and got water systems and could help me out?!!
I've currently turned the entire system off..
(And I'm freezing!!)
TIA

It's a termo-rs-m boiler, with a big cyclinder sat beneath it, presumably the hot water tank.
Their website provides brochures and installation guides, but nothing about how to actually use the system efficiently for hot water and heating..
I was hoping someone had some experience of using this system0 -
The cylinder is a super s 120 - 3kW0

Do you have controls / thermostat .
Is it on all the time .
Have you taken any meter readings .0 -
There is a thermostat in the hallway but it is turned down low.
I had all the switches in the boiler cupboard on, there was hot water constantly, but only heat on the radiators when I switched it on by the boost button on the external timer control by the boiler.
Is there a way to add pictures on this forum?0 -
Basically your boiler mimics a gas system boiler and although it may well be 100% efficient, it will cost say three times more to run than a similar gas boiler dependant on your tariff.
You should use it in a similar way to using a gas boiler assuming that you can afford the extra running cost of running an electric boiler!
As a new tenant unless you have changed your tariff you will likely be on your suppliers most expensive tariff.
To post pictures, you need to host each picture on a site e.g. http://imgur.com/ and then include the link to each picture in your post on here.0
