Infrared heating panels

Options
Has anyone got any experience of Infrared heating panels?

I live on the middle floor of a three floor block of flats (6 units in the block), there is no gas to the property just electric. The building is about 10years old and is currently heated via wall heaters (and fan heaters in the kitchen and bathroom) the heaters have timers on them but don't seem particularly effective(they do get warm but, just don't seem as good as they could be - or just maybe I haven't followed the clear as mud instructions properly).

  • You are off-grid, home ownership and electric panel / fan heaters.

    - what meter
    - what tariff
    - how do you heat water
    - what make / model / wattage are the panel heaters
    - how is your living area heated
    - retired and home all day or ?
    - how do others in your block heat their living area & water

A 250W panel heater will run @ a max of 250W, a 3kW will run @ a max of 3kW, The low wattage 250W will take 12 times longer to get your living area to any given °C temperature, or, it may never get your living area to a comfortable °C temperature.

The 250W panel heater may be inadequate in anything other than a very very small living area and may for example need to be switched on 24/7 to (1) achieve 20°C or (2) maintain a marginally comfortable 20°C.

What exactly are you struggling with?

You have heaters that presumably come on & off as per the timer you set.

When you say they "don't seem particulary effective", what do you mean exactly?
Could it simply be they are incorrectly sized for the space to be heated?
Is there any thermostat that is reducing the maximum heat output?

Hi, try talking to Spam Europe Ltd - they produce energy inefficient infrared heating and hot water systems (garbage is their flagship product and is the only infrared thermal store in the world!) and will give impartial advice with no pressure selling. How nice to join MSE especially just to promote a firm; we get quite a lot of this happening!

I looked at someone to install an Air-Source heat pump a few years ago and they just really tried hard to push me towards IR panels. The guy worked for a company that sold Gas & Elec plus other things (Not going to name and shame, but it was a glorified pyramid scheme).

The key thing with IR is that it will heat "Objects" instead of "Air", so placement of the panel is really important. Overall the efficiency shouldn't be any better or worse than normal electric heaters. Your "impression" of being warm might vary a lot and cause your usage to be a lot less.

Here is a okay site with a good description.

That is exactly what you are doing, joined today and 6 posts in different threads all promoting your firm.

What is more, your posts are a complete nonsense. Unfortunately there are enough mugs out there to ensure you can get a good living!
