Hello guys,

I would like to ask you a very serious question for me. Only you can help me. I live in Czech and calling to UK is very expansive. My account is based with Lloyds UK and this account is in overdraft about two hundred quids. I dont have a debit card from this account because I have already destroyed it but I still have an internet banking so thats why I noticed I have overdrawn my account. If I will repay that overdraft (debt) with charges May I close it straight at any Lloyds Bank Branch across the United Kingdom? Or do I need to visit for this my branch where I set up this classic bank account? Or May I do it throught a letter to the bank?

Thank you for your advice.

I am sure you can do this in any branch, but it possibly be cheaper to do this over a phone. What caused the overdraft if it's a free account?

Not sure about a letter, but you can try.

You may end this agreement, or an account or other service under it, at any time by writing to us, visiting one of our branches or phoning us. Where you have not told us in writing, we may require confirmation in writing.

I usually just write a letter and hand it to the staff at my local branch. They are happy to send it on where it needs to go.

You can do it via letter, as long as your sign the letter at the bottom and your signature matches the signature you made when you first opened the account.

You cannot close current accounts via online banking.

You can close it via the phone but they send you a form i believe.
