PPI claim on store cards

Hi I'm looking for some advice please. About 10 years ago I took out two store cards, one for Topshop and the other for Dorothy Perkins. I cannot remember if I was mis sold PPI or not at the time and now want to find out.
I think back then the cards came under Santander but now I believe it's Newday Ltd. I paid them both off around 6 years ago but I want to find out if I was mis sold ppi.
I signed up to experian but I can't get any more info except to say that the cards are 'settled' and I don't really want to have to go through a no win no fee company - what's the best way to go about finding out if I was mis sold ppi when I don't have any account details ? The new day Ltd site says you can ring them directly and not to bother going through a claims company but I don't know if I trust that...
Any info would be much appreciated as this is my first time trying to find out about ppi. Thanks

If you can't remember if you were missold, how do you expect anyone else to tell you? You need to give a reason for complaint!0

Yes but that's what I'm asking. Is there a way to get a detailed report that shows I was mis sold? I was only 18 at the time and all I remember doing is signing up for store cards - I'd never heard of ppi until all these claims companies started advertising so I have no idea.0

There is no "report" of mis-selling, nor of PPI accounts. Is there a way to get a detailed report that shows I was mis sold?
If you want to know whether you had PPI, you need to approach the financial institution concerned and ask.
It's then up to you to provide a legitimate complaint of mis-selling.0 -
You don't need to use an agency and I wouldn't.
PPI Q to Santander > FOS > Genworth is proving a successful route for those students who had store cards around 2000 onwards with Arcadia Group stores such as TopShop, Burtons, Dorothy Perkins etc.
There's also a few people on here who have taken this route recently and reported successes on here and on other sites in recent days.
We can't say you'll be successful; but, you may well be and of course, you won't know unless you ask Santander for your old store card number etc and refer the matter to the Ombudsman if you need to.Please be polite to OPs and remember this is a site for Claimants and Appellants to seek redress against their bank, ex-boss or retailer. If they wanted morality or the view of the IoD or Bank they'd ask them.0 -
I forgot to add the link to the address for Genworth:

The problem is the OP thinks they were miss-sold but wants us to provide reasons WHY they were miss-sold which is as bad as the CMCs with their templates of lies. Having PPI and knowing the process is all well and good but trying to get people to help them come up with complaint reasons is naughty.Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.
