credit card companies once I moved abroad

Options
I have moved abroad and have access issues for my UK credit cards (Tesco and Barclaycard)
Neither will acknowledge my non UK address or contact number.
I am continuing to make payments each month.

I have a house in the UK that I rent out whilst I work abroad.
Do I have to suck it up and live with it, and hope that my tenant saves all of my mail including when my replacement cards are sent out.

  • If you're living abroad, they won't be sending replacement cards.

What do you mean they won't acknowledge your overseas address?

You can close the accounts for further spending and cancel the cards, so no new cards will be ever sent.
If needed, you can register a UK mobile number.

Tesco wont allow access from overseas, they block access as the I.P address is different and recognize I am trying to access from outside the UK.
Neither Tesco nor Barclaycard allow the changing of my address to one outside of the UK, likewise with my mobile number.
I have zero intention of returning to the UK but want to keep my house in order to pay for my retirement once I sell it.
I can;t close the accounts as I owe money on them, hense me still making payments each month.

What does this mean? It's hard to believe that they refuse to register a UK mobile number.

    I said 'close for spending'.
The same as here: Reject Credit Card Rate Hikes

If they really block access from overseas, you can use some proxy/VPN, but with some other banks I didn't have problems. Also, you can call them instead.

You say you own a house in the UK which you rent out while you are working abroad.
You also say that you have no intention of ever returning to the UK.
    Slightly contradictory.
You will need to maintain a UK address with the credit card providers. This could be either the home you rent out or you could perhaps make an arrangement with a close friend or relative to use their address.
I assume you have a UK bank account to receive your rents and the rental income is being properly declared to HMRC.

I very much doubt if access from outside the UK is blocked, it wouldn't be in the card issuer's interests to do that. Every card account that I have tried to access from overseas has worked exactly the same as if I was sat in my living room, as I am now.

I have the same problem when in France. IPVanish is a VPN service and has apps for most devices. I have the $10 USD rolling monthly service paid by PayPal subscription.

Incidentally using a U.S. server and logging into Netflix U.S. with my usual login doesn't appear to work any more. I think they want an extra subscription but not sure about it.

Yes, it's been in the news recently, for example:

Well Aqua have blocked traffic from outside the UK, although they don't seem to admit it.

So it would not surprise me with anyone else.

Oh thanks for that. What happens with me is that when I log in it goes straight to subscribing and choosing a service. That's why I thought they were after an extra subscription.
