Sofa So Good

Hi all,
Mum bought a sofa just before Christmas. Unfortunately, she decided she didn't like it - after I'd unpacked it and put it in situ of course
Anyway, we managed to get her a refund from the sofa company without any issue. However, it's been almost a month since they gave the refund but they haven't come to pick it up. My fianc!e thinks that if they don't pick up the sofa after a certain period of time mum can keep it (and sell it I guess). However, there's no way I'm going to advise my mum to do this without first speaking with you knowledgeable guys n gals. So, where does mum stand (or sit) with this?

OK, not quite your situation, but the principles are exactly the same.
You must look after the goods properly - no leaving it on the pavement awaiting collection.
