Hi guys
My sister was on income support due to being made redundant however she is starting a new job and phoned to inform them yesterday, man on the phone said it was sorted but today she received a phone call telling her to send in her first wage slip, which won't be until the end of the month before they can end the claim.
Is that normal practice and will she not be over payed?

If your sister was claiming Income Support as a Carer she can work as many hours as she wants but her wages will be taken into account in her Income Support assessment from the date she first receives them - this is why they want her wage slip. This means she is entitled to Income Support until she receives her first wage.
If she is claiming Income Support for any other reason her Income Support will cease from the date she started working 16 hours per week or more.0 -
She was claiming as a carer yes, so that means if they continue to pay her until the end of the month and she then sends in her wage slip at the end of Feb she won't have to pay that money back?0

When I stopped being a carer to start work (2014) I received both CA & IS until my first pay date (5 weeks). It won't need to be repaid.0
