PILON and pension

Options
Hi All,

My last day at work was the 31st December after my role was made redundant. During the consultation period I asked If I could work my 2 months notice but the HR manager said no as there was no job to come back to in Jan (due to the large restructure).

I have recently found out that they don't have to pay their pension contributions for the 2 months PILON. I can understand this to a degree but feel it's not particularly fair as there was no way I could have worked it. My employer did not make this clear to me at the time as I would have tried to negotiate.

I take it I'm just going to have to lump it?

Cheers

Sam

I am afraid that it isn't up to your employer to make things clear - it is up to you to make sure you understand what you are doing. It's too late to renegotiate it now.
