Options
Is it only me - or is anyone else experiencing problems with Thunderbird 38.5.1 ?
Since the latest update - my installation has been freezing and causing all sorts of problems...
eg) Even the Task Manager won't close the program and I have ended up rebooting to deal with it !!

Fine here. 1st try Help and Restart with addons disabled...

Tried that - no effect - ended up uninstalling Tbird and reinstalling it
It is still slower than it used to be - but at least it is not freezing....

Tools -> Activity manager . Is it actually doing anything? (alternatively does Task Manager say its doing something?).

Yes - it is sending and receiving - very slowly (I am on an 80Mb fibre !!)
Everything else on my laptop is running at full speed (including Outlook 2013)

I won't ask why you have Thunderbird and Outlook running on the same client. I assume they're not syncing the same account(s) at the same time?

    Yeh my thunderbird fine.
I had a similar problem with Avast and Thunderbird lately but I completely uninstalled Avast and reinstalled and that solved the problem.
