wireless all in one printer - cheap ink

i've now had enough of buying overpriced ink cartridges for my HP4870 printer.
i remember seeing on here a while ago people recommending an epson wireless all in one printer that you can buy cheap ink cartridges for, but i cannot find the thread, (it wasn't that long ago).
i do not need a high end printing quality but do need it to be wireless.
could someone point me in the direction of that recommendation as i think it was cheaper than buying another 2 sets of cartridges for this pile of rubbish i have now.

i am using epson XP-422 bought from tesco using cheap ink 5 sets of 4 cartridges for a tenner -- good printer and does the job

Yes there are several Epson all-in-ones and although I see nags about the ink not being genuine mine still works fine. Best bet is to just have a look in your local Tesco to see what's on offer or even PC World or Staples. I got my current XP-225 from Tesco for ~ £40. I get the ink on eBay at similar price to above but limit my purchase to 3 sets as I don't print a lot so they last quite a while and ink cartridges can go out of date.

I have an EPson XP422 as well and it's much cheaper to run than my old Kodak Hero. I bought a couple of multi packs of cartridges from a company called BHV Direct via Amazon market place when I first got the printer about 6 months ago and I'm not half way through them. It's much more economical just to replace the colours that run out.

i use hp instant ink and unless there is a considerable price increase will not go back to having the hassle of buying cartridges. i pay £3.49 pm for 100 pages pm and can't fault the service from hp

I dabbled briefly with the refill kits you can get. They are a bit messy, but a lot cheaper than buying new cartridges while they work. Unfortunately, some printer brands use tricks to remember that they have run out, to detect attempts to refill. (But you can buy a device to reset the chip in epson cartridges to evade this.) Plus I think the heads in the cartridges do wear out eventually.

Could have a look at blogs to see which printers have the most reliably refillable cartridges.

(I happily gave up when I got a laser printer off freecycle.)
