Advice please

I have recently lost my job at the age of 60, female with no dependants, and do not wish to return to work. I have in place a company pension, but meanwhile wish to convert a Pru with profit bond which has a recent valuation of £100,000. Also have another £20.000 to add to this, which I would like to convert into a source of income. Any advice please for a low/medium risk investor.

Have you considered spending some of the money on professional advice from a local and regulated independent financial advisor?

That way you would get the money deployed into a suitable portfolio tailored for your particular circumstances, without having to learn about investments or do full due diligence on the myriad of ideas you'll get from anonymous strangers here.

Best advice I can give is to use a better subject line so as to gain the attention of those who may be better able to advise you.

As for your financial problem, I'd suggest an IFA consultation for a fixed fee, eg say an hour or twos consultation, rather than getting stuck with a percentage and possibly paying that on an ongoing basis. And doing a lot of reading, it's not actually difficult it just requires some time to learn, of which it appears you'll now have plenty.

A good IFA can explain the options and possibilities and you can then go away and read more and educate yourself, , ask questions here, and then make your decisions rather than end up paying a lot of money ongoing each year for management fees.
