Which bank account

Options
Hi, Looking for a bank account that pays interest as we have savings that are not earning a v good interest. Currently have my salary paid into single current account and then move most of the money to joint current account where all direct debits go from for house and bills. Have around £15k jnt in saving in ISA with poor interest. Never go overdrawn.

Thinking about Santander 123 and or tsb current 5% for savings

Any suggestions or other ideas?

Here's the list. Unless you go with Santander, you'll need several accounts. Most banks, a couple can have three of the accounts, sole each plus joint, Tesco and BOS you can have two (or three) sole each.
Don't ignore the regular savers just because you don't have that much spare regular income, you can feed them from the 3% accounts.

  • I'm spitting a similar amount across a few accounts (plus a full 123 account). Rather than open a new 123 it will make much more this way as you avoid fees. Tricky to set up but should look after itself once done.

Club Lloyds £5k @4% (£1.5k pay in per month and two DDs so add extra to cover these)
    TSB £2k @5% (£500 pay in)
    Nationwide £2.5k @5% (£1k pay in)
Bank of Scotland £5k @3% (£1k pay in)

Leaving £500 but you could, with a bit of adjusting, spilt the bank of Scotland balance over two accounts, as you can open multiple, at £3k each to hit the 3% interest or try the Tesco account.

Both Club Lloyds & TSB have regular savers paying a good rate.
You could open a Tesco internet saver (can't remember which one!) with the remaining balance which pays peanuts but you can then set up payments for months ahead sending £400 pm , or whatever the max is.
You get a bonus rate (don't get excited!!) for the first year with Tesco.

Club Lloyds saver max is £400 pm @ 4%
