What does PPC stand for? I can't see that anywhere on the letter-sorry if this seems a stupid question!
It stands for private parking company, in other words SCAMMER
PPCs say its carpark management, BPA say its raising standards..... we all know its just about raking in the revenue.

Tracy, in your original post you said, "I received a demand for payment letter today for a parking charge notice. This is the first I have heard about any parking charge ..."

So, treat this is the notice to keeper and appeal to not-so Smart Parking using the BPA template in blue from the NEWBIES thread. Appeal as keeper in your husband's name or in yours if you wish as the keeper by law is the person in charge of the car, not necessarily the registered keeper. Add that since this is the first you have heard about the alleged parking event you consider this to be the Notice to Keeper (NTK.) Just make sure you don't reveal who was driving.

Euro legislation came into force last year saying that appeals should be allowed for up to a year, and in any case the fact that you have only just received the "NTK" means you can appeal using "their rules".

Your autistic child may be covered by the Equality Act 2010 so you may want to mention that one of the occupants of the car has protected characteristics as defined by the EA 2010. Since the PPC are now aware of this fact they should cancel the PCN in accordance with the BPA Code of Practice.

They will of course reject it out of hand saying you are too late to appeal, but it is not something they would ever want to put in front of a judge.

In the words of The Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy, DON'T PANIC.

Think calm thoughts, ignore debt collectors and plan your well earned reunion when your hubby comes home.
