smart meter query - BG to E.ON

Hi there, have a family member who is moving to E.ON ( as am I) from BG, they have a smart meter will any of the features like sending meter readings work with E.ON?

    I am lead to believe that BG smart meters wont work with any other suppliers, and vice versa.

    However, in May, a large infrastructure change is due which should enable suppliers to communicate with all smart meters.

    Definitely not..they wont work with a switch to Eon. I ve moved from BG to Eon and they did nt work as smarts. Energy monitor had some functions. The only time my smarts worked on a switch is with Sainsburys Energy to British Gas..because they re the same supplier.
  • Won't work as smart meters at the moment. So make sure you submits your meter readings.

    Good morning myxbox,

    As the others on the thread have said, the meter won't stay smart when you change supplier to us, it'll still work okay but you'll need to read the meter.

    However, you can always pop your reads on your online account and produce your bill, so you'll know everything is accurate.
