PIP question.

Currently had ESA medical at home and doctor was very surprised i was only claiming ESA Wrag. After medical and off record said he would be advising i was in support group because of mental health issues and mobility problems.
Now i have been claiming carers allowance as i live at home with my recently widowed mother who has various health problems too.

I get the carers premium and ESA income related drag at present.

Can i also claim PIP as well?
What are the implications, my doctor said it won't affect ESA as i am being found unfit for work, so won't trigger another medical for this.

Perhaps someone can confirm whether i can claim all three.

Comments

  • Yes you can claim all three but you should be aware that your ESA medical has no part in the PIP application.

They are separate benefits with different qualifying criteria and you may still be called for another medical. The fact you were awarded ESA doesn't guarantee a positive PIP result.
  • I understand the sea medical is different as that is for whether i am fit to work whereas the pip medical is how my disability affect my day to day life and mobility.

The doctor that saw me said if he was doing the sea medical and i would be put in support group and that if he was doing pip assessment i would be eligible for that benefit because of my mental health and mobility issues.

Would claiming pip trigger another era medical - doctor says no as it's a different benefit. Probably reassessed in a few years.

How long is the waiting list for the PIP medical?
Waited over 2 years for sea medical but glad it has been done now.

The waiting list varies by area for a PIP assessment.
