unable to install windows updates on W7

in Techie Stuff
please help, my current pc on W7 will not install updates it gets stuck after one or 2 then just stalls.
No very techie so simple solution if possible as I don't want to pay the fees some PC people around where I live want to charge.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi,
if you have a lot to do try splitting them and doing a few at a time, it might be one particular one that is causing the problem.0 -

Open Windows Updates and de-select the updates you don't want installed, then right click on them and select "hide", you can unhide them later when you get things sorted out.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

You could try running the "System Update Readiness Tool", which will try to fix Windows Update problems:

OP - do this, I did this few days ago when I upgraded my OS from vista to win 7. also in your windows update only download " important " untick recommended and options downloads.0 -

That hasn't worked neither has deleting number 20 -
Try the fix-it tool from Microsoft that fixes issues with the update service etc ..

Quite a few reports of this. I think its Microsoft "encouraging" 7 users to upgrade to 10. Or have a scan here
