Cosmetic Dentistry - Implants and braces

Options
I am interested in cosmetic treatments and am starting some research.

I have a slight overbite and one of my back teeth was removed - you can only see it if I grin 'showing all my teeth' . I had braces when I was younger but my teeth seem to have shifted back.

Invisalign is looking to be about £2000 and railway tracks seem to be a similar price. I am not sure whether it is worth having the implant, but I am considering going to a dental school for that, they do not, however seem to do cosmetic dentistry.

Has anyone got any of these things done for a good price?

Dental school will not provide an implant either.

Have you asked your own dentist , what do they say and who do they recommend?

Never buy dentistry on price, buy on recommendation.

The price of orthodontic treatment will vary according to complexity and Invisalign and fixed braces work in very different ways and achieve very different results. Eg Invisalign does not , in general, move molars and tilts rather than moves teeth.

You need to see an orthodontist and see what system is best for you , not what is cheapest on price.

Someone will be along shortly telling you about a place in Hungry. She touts for trade on their behalf.
  • It could be worth checking out Groupon as they often have orthodontic treatment on offer there.

I am mid way through a course of Invisalign and it ain't cheap, but my philosophy is there are three things in life worth shelling out for: good dentistry, good optical advice and good chocolate.

Do NOT go on groupon for orthodontic treatment. There are many threads on here of people left high and dry when clinics have gone bust half way through treatment obtained on groupon. Pure clinics are the latest. there is not the profit margins in dentistry to do this sort of cut price deal.https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5406234
  • Option is to close the space with braces. Invisalign can't move back teeth.
  • My husband has had braces, my advice would be to do your homework.

We went to 3 different dentists, one wanted to give him crowns as it was the cheapest option, but his teeth are fabulous quality, just in the wrong place!
the second said he wouldnt touch him as it was too big a job for him but refered him to a Consultant Orthodontist, the best thing for him.
In 11 months the Consultant transformed his mouth. His teeth look amazing now. It cost £2000 for the top arch but we paid in instalments, every time he went for an appointment (every 5 weeks) we paid some more off.
It was well worth the money. It has changed his life, he had to learn to smile all over again.
and that is priceless to see him smiling again
