pure clinic gone administration - treatment not completed

Hi,

I have purchased a Groupon deal for clear braces both arches (£1095) @ Pure Clinic on 20.03.2015. They have been cancelling my appointments a few times and I have finally got my braces fixed on 02.10.2015. I turned up for an appointment a month ago to tighten up my braces unfortunately I was told by a guy that the owner has ran away with my money. The guy(seems to be the owner of the building/Manchester smile) informed me that many patients have contacted Groupon and received a full refund. Ive tried to contact Groupon a few times and have been dealt with different people. They have been asking me for my voucher code over and over again which I have given them straight away each times which they failed to response until I chase them up again, and a different CSR asked me for my voucher code.

The guy also advised that my dentist is self employed and she would contact me soon but I still haven’t hear anything from her yet. I do not have her contact details and am completely stuck now. Can anyone suggest what I should do? I cant afford to go to a different private orthodontist to continue my treatment. Is it possible to go to my local dentist(NHS) and asked them to remove the brackets off for me?

If Groupon failed to refund the money back to me, can I claim it back from my credit card company? And what is the usual process to claim money back from credit card company?

Please help,, any responses would be much appreciated

There is a Facebook group for people who have been affected by the pure clinic in administration. It is worthwhile joining.

Group on is very unlikely to refund but you may get a refund via section 73 claim (I think) contact your credit company.

Your NHS dentist cannot and will not remove your brackets on the NHS , they will need to be removed privately . You may need to go to an orthodontist to get this done.

The dentist who provided the treatment may very well not have received any money from the clinic owner and will not have access to records etc which belong to the clinic owner. You can trace any dentist by looking up their details on the GDC register https://www.gdc-uk.org/Pages/SearchRegisters.aspx

It is unclear as to the relationship between the owner of Manchester smile and the people supplying treatment for Pure clinic.

I would join the Facebook group for more up to date info and contact your credit card provider asap as group on will not refund if money has already been handed to the provider.

I cannot stress strongly enough to anyone reading NEVER buy dentistry on price and especially on social group deals. There really isn't the profit margins in it to make it viable. Only use a dentist/orthodontist recommended to you. This is only the latest in a series of dental clinics going bust offering deals on social groups.
