How fast are the plots selling?
The builders first offer is half the stamp duty so they are keen to do a deal, Push harder and he may get more, but as said above it depends on how much the builders want to keep the sale.0 -

Paying the tax validly due is the duty of all patriotic citizens & should be something people are happy - nay, proud - of doing, rather than scrabbling around under damp stones finding ways of fiddling out of it.0

As above, as 1 April was always going to be 'too late', so they were always going to have the larger tax bill, the builder's being pretty generous with the £3k offer.0

Accept the 3k from the builder, sell the flat within 18 months, apply for refund of extra SDLT = 3k profit to put towards the house.0

Maybe this particular would be LL needs to investigate other ways of doing so
Why so bitter towards someone trying to make their(presumably) already squeezed and heavily taxed income go a bit further? Perhaps he doesn't trust pensions, the stock market etc. so wants his extra cash in property.0 -
This government has a mandate to squeeze people that own more than one property (I don't personally agree but such is life). Why be so precious when you encounter a member of the public that endorses this policy? Why so bitter towards someone trying to make their(presumably) already squeezed and heavily taxed income go a bit further? Saying "thems is the rules, get over it" and saying "Awwww diddums my heart bleeds" are quite different. Being straight to the point and seeming to take pleasure out of someone's plans failing are very different things.Hello There. :beer:0
