Peugeot 206 Oil light and handbrake light comes on every time I turn left?! HELP!!!

Ok so before any one suggest my oil and brake fluid levels both are fine.
Every time I turn left both the oil and handbrake light comes on and as soon as I straighten my car they both go off. When I turn right nothing comes on only if I ever turn left... Does anyone know why and if so how much will the problem cost to fix, thank you.

  • Do the lights come on if the engine is running and the car is stationary and you turn the steering wheel to the left?

IMO, it sounds like a wiring problem, probably a loom chaffing. As to the cost. If it is wiring damage, it could be a very quick repair or it could take many hours to actually find the problem in which case it's not really possible to estimate the cost.

How are the back brakes? Do they work properly?
  • I assume so... how would I know if they weren't?

The handbrake works the back brakes but using a cable not hydraulics. I wouldn't worry about that post too much though. Bigjl has a tendency of claiming that newbies with weird problem of being a troll that occasionally pops up.

Just turning a bit left or turning with the indicator?

What about the oil light(or any other) when you use the hand brake.

any other cobinations of light on a bit, you can get usual combinations with dodgy earths

if any good with wiring diagrams there may be a clue if the two lights are connected in any way.
