Set up energy supplier before moving in?

I'm moving into a second home at the end of the month and would like to take advantage of the current MSE British Gas deal.

Do I have to wait till I've moved in before applying, or can I do it in advance and then submit meter readings on the day?

It is not recommended to attempt to do this in advance.

If you attempt to do so, you are accepting the costs that the current occupier may accrue before you move in. Or the existing occupier may stop the switch (since it's not yet your property)

What you could try is to move to BG at your current property, and as it's a portable product, you could them move it to the new address. But with timing so tight, that might not work either.

Thanks for the advice, will hold off.

Moving BG to my current property is no good as we will still have the current property going forward as well and I want to keep the npower deal I have.
