Fidor Passport Email

I got a request for a scan of my passport from Fidor as they state that the German FCA equivalent has insisted on it. Thought it was just a ad-hoc request or even phishing scam but seems to be legit.
Personally, just going to leave it and let them close the account as per their email. The account doesn't seem to have anything worth keeping.

I had the same request and happily sent them a scan of my passport as I would like to keep the account open for a bit longer, just to nose around on what they are offering. I agree, at the moment it is nothing much.0

I am curious whether they asked the copy to be sent by a e-mail or provided some upload facility for this.0

And what happens if you don't have a passport?
"send us a copy of your passport by email" ! These organisations are starting to take the you know what.0 -
I too got the email undecided if i'm going to send it will have to read the email again to see if there is a deadline.
From memory grumbler its to be sent via email but don't quote me on that.
I'd like to see what they offer in the future so i might as well stick around i'm still to validate my contactless debit card that was sent last month its not really useful at the moment.0 -

They ask for it to be sent via email.
This just goes to show what nonsense the 'unbanked' fad is.
Unbanked refers to people who don't have a bank account.
Lots of these we're not a bank things are popping up.
To me, unbanks seem to offer a cut-down services and charge for cashmacine withdrawals. And it turns out they are banks!
It's difficult to see why anyone would choose Fidor, Ffrees, etc, over a proper (basic) bank account.0 -
I think some people jumped onboard as you never know what products they might release probably wishful thinking though.
The government does want new challenger banks to emerge but doubt fidor will help with that.0 -
I would say it's a bank:

For anyone who signed up - did you have to provide any sort of ID or other verification at the time?0 -
I didn't have to supply anything but this was when it was first launched last year0

further to this fidor have just sent an email apologising it will in future be sent to our bank account message section
the information is still needed but we can upload the passport digitally when the service becomes available.
It does say that they have had a negative response to the original email which prompted this change.0 -

And do they say what happens if you've no so-called photo ID, as is the case with a great many people?0
