Wessex Admin PU- Found on my Bank statements dated back to 2009

Hi, I am getting on top of my financies, in the past I have been useless (New Years Resolution ) I have a company Wessex Admin NU with a code ref RIDSF…. But don't know who they are. My bank history only dates back to 2009 so it could be older. I am not sure what this company is and should have found out sooner as I suspect it dates back to either 1989 first joint mortgage, or 1995 second joint mortgage- always had the same joint account and same Bank and paid by Direct debit. (I hear you scream- I am shopping around to change my Bank, after watching Martin Lewis cringe at someone else on TV last week).
Now I think , but not sure, that it may be from the second mortgage as we had life insurance on our joint mortgage £12’ish a month that decreased with the mortgage, and this was with a company (forgot the name but must have been before 2009) that merged or went bust. We got a letter from Pheonix who took it over and this mortgage payment finished, ceased in Oct 2015 (also decreased with the mortgage).
Direct Debit to Wessex in 2009 was £9.75 and now it is £8.18, strange! This seems to have decreased over time too, but what is it for?
Can anybody advise or point me in the right direction.
Thank you for your time

Yes, Norwich Union, I remember now.
I am just rummaging through my past. I do save all documents and to be honest don't have that many concerning Mortgage, Insurance and Banks, etc. Could it really be miss sold if it's shows on my On line Bank Statements, stupidly I've never noticed it until now. Just by chance, double checking that Phoenix stopped taking their payment. Just cancelled a lot of old Direct Debits and noticed this small payment. I won't cancel this though in case it is miss sold PPI- surely it is. Never ever had a letter from them . haven't a clue.

if it is missold PPI, best to cancel now and put in a claim. If you have no idea what you are paying for and have no terms and conditions, would you know to claim on it if circumstances, god forbid, occured where you would need it to start working for you? Or do you already have pPI in place elsewhere so this is a duplicate policy.

Never had PPI on anything as far as we are aware- never would! We did have decreasing life cover on the mortgage which has ceased. I am sure this is some kind of package, related to Phoenix in some way, Set up after Norwich closed. But if it is not miss sold then fair enough and surely they would have to have one of our signatures or both on some kind of Policy. Time will tell.
I will investigate this personally with the advice given on this useful forum.
