Am I entitled to my money back??

Hi guys, I'm not too sure where I stand with this.
A few months ago, I spoke to a local bike shop about a bike that I had interest in. They ordered one into the shop for me, and I gave them £200 of a £250 balance. (So I still owe £50)
I recently had a car accident, and have fallen out with my mother so I'm now lodging with a friend too - my money situation is awful and I contacted the bike shop to ask if I could just have the £200 back and they could sell the bike on rather.m than hold it. I was told that was okay, and they would call me the next day to arrange. I didn't hear from them so I called them again today - they said they can't give me my money back as they are just a small family owned business and blah blah blah.
Does anybody know where I legally stand with this? If I haven't ever touched the bike, and haven't even paid off the full balance... The transaction hasn't been completed. Surely there's something they can do?
Thanks

You have agreed the purchase so you need to complete it.
Why not borrow the £50 then sell the bike on yourself? Or pay them, then ask them to sell it in their shop?Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
Is it a bike they normally sell, or did they order it in just for you?
If they ordered it in specially for you, I would ask if they could be so kind as to advertise 'your' bike in their store and then when the bike sells, to give you the sale price?0 -
