Why won't Santander give her a current account? You don't mention her being unhappy with them.0

They won't give her one because they said she has to close her account she has with them, to be able to open a new one. However she's worried that if she closes her account, they might not be able to open another one.
She's not unhappy with them, as explained above, it's more to do with the fact she wants to comply by their rules, so as she is no longer a student, the right thing to do is change to normal account.:undecided0 -
yds, the club accounts charges £5 which she is trying to avoid by leaving her santander student account. Will see what the outcome is
BTW, get rid of that "3-year address history" idea - - there is no requirement of any minimum time at an address.0 -

Before applying online, I'd sort out the electoral register.0

From personal experience as a foreigner who moved to the UK for a job last year -- Lloyds was the only place I could open an account without showing proof of my *current* address.
BUT not having three years of address history was never a problem; most application forms let me list foreign addresses or tick "outside UK". There probably is something lurking in the credit report to explain the Barclay's denial. I got around the three years' of addresses requirement by extending the dates of my first UK address back to cover three years (to be clear: I'm only suggesting this to get a copy of the credit report; it's probably a bad idea to lie to the bank). Even then I couldn't get an instant report but had to wait several days for an email instead.0
