Windows 10 Start Menu

Options
I purchased a new laptop yesterday and it came with Windows 10. I had previously installed Windows 10 on my old laptop and found it fine.

The new one spent several hours downloading Windows updates yesterday but everything seemed normal once it had finished. I think that I may have inadvertently changed the Start menu options, though. My guess is either by accidentally right-clicking or ticking a box...

Now the tiles that usually come up on the right hand side of the start menu (Life at a Glance etc.,) are permanently on the desktop. I can click them to launch an app and I can move them about but they won't go away. There are three groups of them. These aren't the usual desktop shortcuts that I'm used to and it never happened on my old laptop.

In addition, towards the bottom right hand side of the screen I get notifications which won't go away and block that part of the screen when I use any app. Currently it's telling me to set up OneDrive. Clicking it does nothing.

I'm expecting/hoping that it's a simple task to put everything back as a sane person would want but I've come up blank so far so hope that someone can help.

I just created a new administrator account and the start menu was fine but then I deleted the old one and linked the new one to my outlook account and it went 'bad' again so I can only assume that it's to do with that.

    It's driving me bonkers.

    Hmm.

I signed out and back in again and it seems okay now. Probably.

You put Windows 10 into 'tablet' mode which keeps the tiles on-screen. It's the top right-hand icon in the Action Centre to toggle this on/off.
