O/S Daily Thursday 11 February 2016
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine
Morning everyone
Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x
Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.
DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 now getting ready for work. DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly.
Still dark, seems drier underfoot but the temperature has dropped so expecting a frost this morning.
Dinner last night was beef casserole, flavour was lovely as I’d cooked it slowly and steady but I’d used 2 different packs of meat – thinking I’d then freeze the LO’s to use as a ready meal or use to make a meat pie – DH moaned saying some of the meat wasn’t very nice – so what was left got thrown in the bin, so cross that I had to throw it away – none of the meat was cheap either. Will go back to just chucking it all in the slow cooker and letting it cook to death at least then there won’t be any moaning! Tonight I’ve menu planned quiche, and stuffed jacket potatoes, but I’m not sure whether I’m going to stick with that or do something else. Whatever it is I’ll endeavour not to spend any money. I could make a frittata – I also have the ingredients to make some HM coleslaw which is a real favourite in this house and cheap as chips to make.
Work yesterday wasn’t particularly busy – but I had appointments but 1 cancelled in the middle so it gave me time to spend with other customers and not feel so rushed. Now on days’ off, will do all the normal stuff to do today – washing, drying and ironing, housework etc.
Keep safe and well x

Morning all
Frosty here today I'll have to scrape the car before I leave home.
I'm showered & dressed, hubby has a cuppa, I'm just eating my toast and then I'll set off to help with the school run and then on to work.
Have a good day everyone.

Morning All
WM just spinning with a load of jeans, etc. Woolies dried overnight. House reasonably clean and tidy. Really must do some ironing soon.
Yesterday was such a lovely sunny day I decided to go for a long walk t the local country park after work. On the way there the clouds gathered, got to the top of the park and the wind whipped up, the rain came down sideways and it was freezing! Anyway, I soldiered on and took some photos on my new camera, it's the first time I've managed to get out to use it. Walked for 6km and thoroughly enjoyed it although I had to turn back at one point as the path was flooded.
Work and hospice today, may tackle that ironing later. Take care. XX0 -

I've sorted through my yarn stash, I have a few colours I probably won't use. I've put them to one side, if I can't think of a use for them in the next couple of months I'll give them away. I'm missing a couple of my favourite colours so I'll do an order, I have £30 of Christmas money to spend and it's all going on yarn
It's very frosty here this morning, I've turned the heating up a bit. I'll probably have to defrost the chicken's water, I'll check it in a mo before I let the girls out.
I haven't put new net curtains up yet but it's already much more peaceful when we're in the lounge, the curtains stayed open all day yesterday and Scampi mostly stayed calm, when he kicked off a couple of times (pushbikes!) he came away from the window when I told him to.
Just pottering about today, I've made a start with the washing and have already done a quick swish around the kitchen. I have a bit of paperwork to do but that won't take long.

Hmmm. Sounds familiar. Oh yes. That would be because you live round the corner from me!:rotfl:
I was running. Glorious. Decided to wait until the way back to photograph the lovely blue sky and beautiful shaggy cows I passed. Mistake. Grey as I passed them, then tipping it down 5 mins from home. Unexpected sprint finish!
Looks good this morning as well.:D
Off to the gym shortly - need to work off some calories in advance. Runrig concert tonight, and sneaky Italian beforehand. I am a sucker for seafood rissotto.
Have a good day everyone.Goals - Weight loss 6/26lb at 22nd Jan 18Mmmm. 26lb at 1/7/18. Oops:o0 -
Morning everyone,
Frosty and clear here as well, car will need to be scrapped in a minute.
Hoping to start a bit earlier today so that I can leave at 5pm, time-keeping seems quite flexible so will ask and see.
Yesterday was lovely, took Bill out in the afternoon in the end as the weather was better and was rewarded by a long ride in the sunshine, bliss.
Anyways, better get on, have a good day all x0 -
Morning all,
Light frost here this morning, not that it effects me, I,m still in bed
Just about to get up, and after coffee will get on with the normal chores, washing, mad Dyson dash, flick a duster round etc
Need to take MIL to a funeral this afternoon - I,m getting a bit worried about her, she,d forgotten she told us all about (in great detail) of her friends passing, and asking for us to take her, when I phoned yesterday to confirm what time she wanted picking up, her first response was 'how do you know about The funeral' - she,s 84, and very switched on, so how do we know what's normal forgetfulness and what's a worrying sign....
Burgers, buns, salad and sweet potato fries tonight.
Need to pick up a valentines pressie for DS2 - I,ve always bought the kids a chocolate heart, used to put it in their lunch boxes, but at nearly 18 I think I,ll just give it to him on Sunday LOL
Have a fab day all, now where,s that coffee XNote to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

Morning all. Hope all are well. Will read back when time permits.
We got back from Liverpool Tuesday night after three very tiring and draining days. Mr TA's therapy went as it should and the scans before we left showed it was targeting what it should. After his next treatment in May (the third) he will have a diagnostic scan and this will show whether the therapy is halting the growth of the tumours. Shrinking them would be even better.
Meanwhile we have Oncology at Leeds today for his monthly injection. No immediate rush this time as the 11.00 train will get us there in time. No-one ever has the foresight to get the injection out to warm up for when we get there, so we'll check in and then go back downstairs for half an hour and have a coffee and a sandwich for a quick lunch while we wait.
We'll then need to dash back home in time for the DGDs coming from swimming/diving club for tea and sleepover. No school tomorrow as it's a teacher training day so we have them all day. I've just got some sausage out to defrost and will shortly peel a pan of spuds. Sausage & mash is one of their favourite teas!
Have a good day all (((HUGS))) where wanted/needed. Take care and keep warm xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Hi everyone,
It seems ages since I posted. We've been away celebrating DH's 60th birthday, much to his disgust (at the age not the celebration). I'm afraid that I couldn't resist teasing him about being old so no doubt I'll get it back in a couple of years.
It was an expensive few days though - a water bottle leaked in his backpack and damaged the camera and then a van came across the white lines and took out the wing mirror of the car and of course didn't stop. I have to take it to be replaced today. We also need to have the roof of the house in Yorkshire replaced in the summer so that will be a BIG expense.
We have visitors this weekend so I've been going through the spare rooms - one of them is a toddler so I've been trying to remember to put things out of reach. I've not had much time to sew apart from my hand sewing project that I do when I'm watching tv.
Have a good day.0 -
Morning everyone.
Another lovely bright sunny and cold morning.
Camelot & FBO - such discipline from you both to get out! I wimp out too often and just stay fat.
TA - I'm glad that the Liverpool visit went well. You've got a well packed life.
Yesterday was fairly calm for me. I did a few bits and pieces in the garden, just picking up debris and flowerpots etc. It was a sort of work day so got some emails out and a couple of phone calls made. I'm now having problems with the printer from the big laptop, think OH has done a fiddle too much when he set up the outside cameras with wifi. I'll need to figure it out before I throw gadgets into the bin!
Today could be the day I go shopping. Or not. Perhaps I'll stay here.
Anyway, whatever everyone is doing I hope it's a good day for you.0
