I always right click and open in a new tab but that shows I've come from here
My wins have been few and far between for the last 18 months or so but that could be because I'm entering less and most are high-end ones.
Very interesting though, thanks hunnieThanks to all posters :A0 -
I'm not sure, but I think it would be hidden. That's the beauty of this particular competition - you can try your normal method and see what the URL says when the comp page opens.
Thank you, just checked and my way works. I know it's slow way of comping but I like to see what I've done and keep track of wins, plus I set meself personal monthly targets and I can see how close i am too it lol0 -

I've done various methods over the years, but now drag the link to the top and opens in a new window.0

Thanks one-eye, have been trying your methods.
Using Windows 10, IE 11.
Tried methods -
Dragging a link to a new tab or window hides where you came from.
Opening a link "incognito" hides where you came from.
Right click and "copy link address" and pasting it in a new tab or window hides where you came from.
Top two methods still showed referrer MSE.
Tried last method and the 'copy' option was greyed out, so unable to try this.
The method of dragging the link to a new tab hid the referrer, and wondered what other methods are used by IE11 users.
Thanks for your post.0 -
I only have an iPad, so I can't test elsewhere, but I'm wondering if Apple have changed something recently....
A few months ago, I saw a post on here saying to use this to tell if you had a referrer showing:
http://www.whatismyreferer.com/
I found that opening a link, just by touching it, showed MSE, but if holding down on the screen and selecting "open in new tab" then it came up as no referrer. However, now when I try it, MSE shows for both methods. Even holding down and selecting copy (to copy the URL) and then opening a new tab and pasting it in, is still showing MSE!
I'm not quite sure how this works with the jeans link in post #1 of this thread though, as all 3 methods in fact don't show an MSE link at all. This could just be unique to the jeans website though and it just doesn't work as a testing method on iPads?
EDIT: actually, weirdly it keeps changing! Regardless of method of opening, on the "whatismyreferrer" link, I sometimes get no referrer and sometimes get MSE, there's no logic to it!I use an iPad, I don't know how to copy and paste from an iPad or to drag a link over to a new window, really not very tech savvy, but can anyone answer me if I have got the Do Not Track option in use in the settings for safari will that do the same thing as to hide where I have come from?
To copy you touch the link, but hold your finger down until you get a menu you can select "copy" from. Then touch and hold where you what to paste to and select "paste" from the pop up menu.
I have do not track turned on in my settings and it doesn't seem to help hide the referrer.0
