Bizspark membership

In January 2010 I left my previous employer and joined my existing employer.

My previous employer offered me consultancy work on a number of occasions between January 2010 and December 2013. Therefore I registered as a business and filled out a tax return each year. I earned about £200 per year for three years as consultancy.

I am a software developer and I came across Bizspark (https://www.microsoft.com/bizspark) in 2013, which gives "start ups" access to tools free of charge for three years (in the hope that they will then subscribe to MSDN thereafter paying the appropriate fees). I wrote to Microsoft in 2013 explaining what I was doing and my application for Bizspark was accepted. I would not have done this at that point in time if one of the conditions was not that you have to be trading for less than five years (I did not want to miss my chance).

I have never activated or renewed my membership. The three years ends in November 2013. I have not taken advantage of the benefits of this scheme yet. I am more focused on my full time employment at the moment (since 2013). I actually notified HMRC in 2015 that I am no longer trading (because I had nothing to declare).

I have ideas and I want to utilize Bizspark more in the future. However, I am worried that I will now have to pay full fees straight away. Has anyone ever had there Bizspark membership extended?

I have written to Bizspark Support a number of times about this, however I seem to get an automated response each time stating the three conditions i.e. earn less than £1m annually; less than five years trading and actively engaged in software development. One response was quite useful where the person said that if you start a new venture then the three years can start over.

Has anyone ever extended their Bizspark membership?
