RAC rip off

I got my renewal quote for RAC vehicle breakdown cover. It came to £194 which was ridiculous. Phoned them for explanation and got loads of waffle, they re quoted me down to £88 for the same cover. So watch out with all renewal quotes.

Nothing new. Breakdowncover , car insurance, home insurance etc etc.. Happens a lot.

Always shop around as a new customer, you are simply a massive sucker if you don't and these companies will have your pants down for a spanking. Worst two words in the English language now are "auto renew".

They were not "caught out", its standard practice, they probably got you before as you seem to think its new and here to warn us, at least 3 other threads started saying the same thing in the past 4 weeks.

The price you paid is the standard price, but people that do not read their renwals get to pay a premium.

Comes up about once a week.

I was told by the RAC that if you use their service in the year then that could increase your renewal charge the following year. Well! They have a sense of humour.

The problem is that the RAC and AA were once owned and run by motoring enthusiasts. Those were the days when patrolmen would salute members displaying their badge, and their fees were open and transparent.They are now owned and run by venture capitalists, who are out to screw you at every opportunity
