Kwh for both Gas and Elec. are dearer, the Standing Charge has reduced but will it offset the added fuel cost?0

If you ensure all your details are accurate in your CEC account, the results page will calculate whether there is a saving between your current tariff and those available on the market.
Unless your usage is expected to fluctuate dramatically from year to year, there isn't a great need to focus too much on the actual tariff costs, given the comparison is doing this for you.0 -
Of course it is hidden there is no way to find it from the comparison chart, there is no reason to make it more difficult to find unless you are deliberately trying to hide the bad feedback? notice you avoided the question about bigger kick backs......The things that make me suspicious.
I get an email headlining BG's super deal
Down point "Not good if you want the VERY BEST customer service" implying they are good but not the very best when shuld be "Not good if you want acceptable customer service"
Bigger Banner
Obviously the hidden poor feedback
Pressure selling Limited Time and "Limited" amount of places, classic techniques for pressure selling.
Its as plain as day there is a financial incentive to push BG more than everyone else at the moment, its just a shame I expected more from Martin Lewis assuming he is aware of this. Unfortunately this is what happens as soon as money large amounts of money gets involved. These points would be moot if it were a normal business selling these switches which its obvious this site is turning more and more into rather being fair comparison site.0 -

As previously mentioned I can assure you that there is no benefit financially to MSE for a user switching to British Gas over any other tariff available for switching via Cheap Energy Club.
We're more transparent about how we make money from switching than any other site out there and have covered this both on the CEC homepage and the weekly email. For each successful switch made through the site, half of the money goes back to our users in the form of cashback.
Ofgem's collective rules state that tariffs cannot simply be available for an undefined period - we think it is more helpful to show the time remaining in this way.
As always, the decision on whether to switch is a personal one, and it does seem that you're fully aware of the pros and cons of this tariff.0 -
I cannot believe as a supposed consumer website, you've come out with this. Shame on MSE!The other thing to add is that as part of our negotiations the winning suppliers have promised boosted customer service levels.
ps. I promise you £1k every day and a Ferrari for Christmas if you promote my business, deal? Ahem, I meant customer service!0 -

I'm afraid you've completely lost me there.
The point around boosted levels of customer service is that we push providers to offer a bespoke level of service to try and minimise any potential problems involved in switching.
This includes:
- dedicated telephone numbers and ringfenced customer service teams.
- MSE input into the training delivered to customer service agents to ensure full understanding of how CEC works.
- agreed timescales for responding to issues which our users flag.
- shorter timescales for providers to pay referral fees in the hope that we can pay cashback in less than the usual 3 month period.
The whole aim of this is to try and ensure a smooth switch and help people save money.0 -
OK - I shall spell it out.I'm afraid you've completely lost me there.
The point around boosted levels of customer service is that we insist that the providers offer a bespoke level of service to try and minimise any potential problems involved in switching.

Big 6 Energy firms have notoriously dreadful customer service. Without exception. Nothing in the last 25 years has been able to address this - parliamentary enquiry, court cases (yes, really) or consumer pressure. Nothing.
Yet here we are, BG are going to revolutionise their services in return for MSE prostituting itself.
Forgive me if I'm slightly sceptical.0 -
Thank you!
Somebody else can see what MSE is doing......I have been an avid follower of Martin for years when the site first started but I have noticed a gradual slide into commercialism.......0 -
Can we get Martin to comment on this? Would love to hear his view....Mind you has his time as Editor in Chief expired? I jsut realised this sites decline kind of aligns with the sale to Moneysupermarket.com.......Just looking through the forums posts of people complaining about misleading comparisons and almost spam like promotions.....0

Martin sold MSE to moneysupermarket a few years ago, and made north of £80m in the process. He insists that MSE retains its editorial independence. Can we get Martin to comment on this?
