Car insurance/ disabled advice needed?

Hi,
I'm currently with Fish insurance- I suffer from arthritis & an eye condition called uveitis
Under DVLA rules there is no need to inform them unless arthritis affects your driving/ and u require modifications (my car has no mods) nor does it affect my driving so DVLA do not need to be informed
Eye conditions only need to be DVLA informed IF it affects both eyes. That is not the case for me so again I don't need to let them know
However, I've informed my insurers of these problems (it probably raises the premium) but when I renew in several months time- seeing DVLA do not have to be informed of these problems, am I still required to let my insurers know?
Thanks in advance

Most insurers only ask about conditions you have to tell DVLA about.0

These days you don't have to volunteer information to insurers. You do have to accurately answer all questions asked.0 -
Thanks for the prompt replies!
Ahh I see, so I only need to tell insurers about medical probs that need reporting to DVLA
However- I use a price comparison site and it always ask "do you have any medical problems tick Yes or No" clearly I do have medical problems but not to the extent DVLA need to know. which one do I tick?
Then it asks "DVLA aware? Unaware?0 -
It's your call whether to volunteer your "problems"
However why tick yes unless your chosen insurer really does want to know your medical problems?
(As most are only interested in conditions that must be notified to DVLA)0 -
I see, thanks
My thinking is that in event of claim- that's when insurers start digging by looking at your medical history to see if u have anything undisclosed/ so they don't have to pay out
So let's say I tick "No" to medical problems- and they come back saying I have arthritis & uvietis which wasn't disclosed to them- I'll have to then prove under DVLA rules I did NOT need to notify them.... hence I was not required to tell insurers based on that...
Am I right?0 -
Or is it better to tick "yes" to medical problems and tick "DVLA unaware"0

What are the precise questions you are being asked?
I don't recall a question such as 'Do you have any medical problems'0 -

Insurers would only request access to your medical records (which you would have to agree to) if it was to do with a claim for injuries where the records would be relevant.
What is much more likely is that they would check that the information given by you matches what is held by the DVLA, so in your case the DVLA would say no restrictions due to medical conditions. All matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves.0 -

Oh right, that makes perfect sense.
So in my case despite having medical problems/ disability (own a blue badge) I would still tick NO to the question asking me about "Disability/ medical problems" based on fact DVLA criteria states I do NOT have to inform them.0
