Eon Rep Please - Rude Meter Reader / Smart Meter

Can an Eon rep explain why I am being hassled by meter readers when I have a smart meter?.
Had a meter reader turn up in Nov, after not seeing one for a couple of years, said it was a compulsory safety check every 2 years and they read meter at same time.
Fair enough no problem all done
today 3 months later another meter reader turns up to read meter. told him we were on a smart meter and did not want it read as hassle in moving dogs out of house etc.
He was very terse and said if we were denying him entry to read it Eon would consider court action to force a reading.
1: why are meter readers sudennly back around as the smart function is working well
2: why employ such rude people who demand access and make threats

Doubt it was a conman unless they have bought Eon Signwritten Fiesta Vans...

Its not the meter readers fault.He personally would have no idea about the last time the meter was read or even if it was a smart meter.He s been issued the order to read the meter and gets pushed from above to access at least 80% of his issued meter readings. I only occasionally work for Eon, but have the same problems with BG who send me out to see smart meters . Maybe the last reading was nt accepted ( incorrectly read ) or the system just mucked it up like they do, or even if your readings were being transmitted ok. Failed smart meter transmission happens sometimes. He would nt know, we never get the true reason why we re coming round. OP, if you make a complaint you will most likely receive some compensation and the lad will receive a ticking off and an order not to repeat it. Making doorstep veiled threats is nt tolerated by any suppliers meter readers.
Maybe the best thing was just to give him the reading the next day by leaving a card on display somewhere.Keeps everyone happy, but he was certainly out of order issuing a silly threats like a court order.That will never happen unless you re growing weed or fiddling the meters.
The 2 year inspection rule is a mandatory rule applied by OFGEM to all suppliers apart from BG who can go to five years, so I m sorry but we re staying around...And someone described as "terse " could also be described as "efficient " by someone else. Maybe you re like my partner who is always complaining about someones attitude if they are not gushing and servile..while I just think they are efficient.. Have a nice day !0 -

I'm here, I'm sorry I didn't reply yesterday, I'd finished for the day and it was Malc's day off
I'm sorry the meter reader was rude to you, I have to agree with sacsquacco in that he wouldn't know when the meter was last read or the reason why your meters were on the list etc it could be many reasons, are the smart reads being transmitted to us correctly? Have you checked the reads against your bill?
We do need to be reading the meters every 2 years, but I understand this was only a 3 month gap.
We can look in to it though and check all is ok with the account, I can help or you can speak to the smart guys directly.
