Hi all,
I took advantage of the British Gas Collective Fix December 2016 at the end of last year.

Now they've release Collective Fix February 2017.

Am I right in thinking from the write up that if I switch to this new tariff I will not be charged the £60 cancellation fee for my current tariff with them?

No you will not be charged and it says so on the Cheap Energy Website.

    Also confirmed in Martin's newsletter:
Cheapest: British Gas MSE 1-year fix (£60 early exit fee). Dual fuel only, available to all incl existing British Gas customers (incl Scot Gas & Sains) who can switch to it with NO EXIT FEES.

It's a simple form to fill in so worth it for £30 cashback and the security of an additional 3 months fix through the winter. However I looked at the standing charges and rates and they're effectively identical to the Dec 15 deal, i.e. there are no energy savings.

Any savings quoted reflect what you'd be charged over a year if you didn't switch at the end of your current deal and went on to a standard tariff. I appreciate this is how Ofgem say it should be represented but it's potentially misleading!

    Hi Oli,
I've checked the unit costs, which are pretty similar. But the saving is coming from the standard day charge, which goes from 26p to 18p

Yup, weird, I must have mistakenly been comparing my current tariff data with itself (BG sign up email with the Energy Club tariff info)! Thanks for setting me straight, I will be saving after all!
