Hello
I need a new laptop but don't know where to start.
I have been told I need an optical drive if I want to watch dvd's.
I want a windows laptop, but don't want to spend more than around £170.00 if possible.
Where would you recommend looking?
I've seen a couple on the pc world website but you can't play dvd's. I went on amazon but there is so much that it was completely over whelming.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks

I know I am answering then running {busy afternoon} but apart from watching dvd's what else will you be using it for {h/drive size ect??} you can get a standard laptop without an optical drive cheaper than a fitted one then buy an external one for around £20 on Amazon/ebay.
For 170 you are not going to get much if the dvd drive is fitted in so an external one COULD be a better choice
I am no expert on PC's/laptops so just my opinion0 -
£170 is too low unless you are OK to go with a refurbished laptop.

Personally, I wouldn't pay £225 for something with a Celeron processor, I know they're not as bad as they used to be but I'd rather sway more towards an i3/i5 processor instead of a Celeron.0 -

She doesn't need to worry about it.0 -

They are, try an OS upgrade on one compared to an i3+ and it's the difference between walking to London and catching the train, avoid them at all costs unless it's £20 and you're really broke.Science isn't exact, it's only confidence within limits.0 -
Thanks for all the replies. I hadn't thought about playing the dvd on a separate device that's a great option. I don't mind refurbished. I'd only use it for browsing the internet and using office so don't particularly need it to do a great lot.0
