How To Work Out Consumption
I am thinking of changing supplier as I am currently with Powergen and it is capped until October 2007. The issue I have is that when you go on a comparison site it either asks for your consumption in kWh or the amount you spend....
How on earth do I know that? I pay a monthly direct debit and my quarterly bill tells me if I am in credit or debit (Usually the latter!!!).
Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I have now done two comparisons and got different companies...

Your quarterly bill will tell you how many kWhs you have used. It is important that the bill is based on actual meter readings and not estimated readings.
You need to know how many kWhs you have used in a 12 month period. If you haven't kept the last 4 bills, ring your Utility company and ask them.
There is no point in entering how much you spend on these comparison websites as they will always tell you there is a cheaper company; as their objective is to get you to change supplier and get their commission.0 -
I have just contacted them and I am more confused now....0

Why are you confused?
If you can't find out how many kWhs you use, then just enter an estimate.
The average is 20,500kWh for gas and 3,300kWh for electricity.
If you have a small 1 bed flat put in lower for gas.
A 6 bed mansion - much more for gas.
It takes seconds to enter 15,000/3,000kWh, 20,000/3500 etc.0 -
Hi,
Kwh is equl to your units on your bill. Get bills where you have 2 firm or COR (customer own readings) to know this. It's important they span the seasons though or you will be incorrect. Your supplier keeps this data for years on their systems so if you are unsure just ask them to tell you what your yaerly consumption is based on actual readings, not estimates. Should take them 2 minutes to work that out.
Good luck...:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0 -
If only I was on for 30 mins and still get what I wanted...Hi,
