Debt sold on when I had PPI

I had a credit agreement with Capital One, which i took out as a student. After college I fell behind with payments and as a result had my debt sold on to a debt agency who pursue me with numerous demands for payment. I have been paying off the debt, at a reduced rate, for the last 4 years. However going over old receipts, I can see monthly deductions for PPI insurance.
This means that not only did Capital One not tell me about my insurance when I fell behind, they must of knowing sold on the debt, causing me a great deal of distress and having adverse effect on my credit rating.
How would I claim.
Do I claim for the money I paid in insurance? or
Do I claim for the money I've paid to the debt agency?
Is there any recourse for the stress and bad credit rating?
Can I have the debt default removed from my credit ratings?
Can anybody help me with relevant advice???
Thanks in advance.

Why didn't you simply claim on the insurance yourself? Are you certain you kept up the PPI until you defaulted? It doesn't sound as if you remember taking the PPI or whether you were still paying during your default period. This means that not only did Capital One not tell me about my insurance when I fell behind, they must of knowing sold on the debt
The bank are not required to tell you to claim on insurance. However, I would have expected them to advise you to IF you actually told them you were in hardship rather than simply falling behind with payments.
If you feel it was mis-sold to you, then write to the bank and complain.Do I claim for the money I paid in insurance?
Since this is repayment of a defaulted debt (money you failed to pay) then no you can't.Do I claim for the money I've paid to the debt agency?
No.Is there any recourse for the stress and bad credit rating?
Nothing you have said indicates that you have any legitimate cause to expect this. It certainly won't happen due to a PPI complaint, whether successful or notCan I have the debt default removed from my credit ratings
In addition, if any monies were written off by the Bank as part of your default then it's possible that this can be clawed back from any money awarded even if your PPI is deemed mis-sold.0
