I am now in the DRO club

Well after years of struggling to take a chunk out of my massive 30k debt (caused by reckless spending during the credit boom / being lent too much by creditors and comfort spending with depression) I am now in the DRO club.

Big thanks to the people on this board as the advice has been so helpful.

Someone on here actually recommended I look at DRO as an option as well - I think it might have been fatbelly. Big thanks.

I've not had the letter yet - only made the application on Friday - thought I would check the register today and it was put on yesterday. Feel very strange and relieved. Still disappointed in myself for getting in such a mess. Esp as my boyfriend really wanted to buy a house but can't get a mortgage alone so mega guilt.

So as I am starting to get calls and letters from my creditors can I now give them the good news or should I wait until I receive my letter and can send them a copy?

Thanks all

    Hi

Well done on getting your situation resolved.

There’s no harm in telling any creditors you speak to that you’ve now applied for a DRO as they can search the insolvency register themselves if they want proof. You can always send them a copy of your letter and your DRO reference number once you’ve received it if necessary.
