I've been doing a bit more digging around in the general t&c document.
"End of Fixed Term Notice" means the Renewal Statement together with an information notice which
informs you (a) that we are seeking your agreement in writing to offer a further Fixed Term Tariff, (b) of the
duration of that further Fixed Term Tariff and nature, purpose and effect of any proposed changes to the
Contract, and (c) that you are under no obligation to agree to the further Fixed Term Tariff.
"Renewal Statement" means the “Statement of Renewal Terms” that we are required to prepare in
accordance with our Supply Licence.
I'm not convinced that the email I got ticked all those boxes. It certainly implies that I will be switched to the new tariff although reading it again it could be a bit ambivalent. We’ll automatically transfer you to the new Co-op Online March 2017 tariff. All you have to do is confirm your details, and we’ll do the rest.
At any rate it certainly does not make it clear that I am under no obligation to agree to the switchIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0 -
Which tariff are you currently on? Is it the The Fair & Square March 2016 V2 tariff?
If so, from term 10
and from term 14Please note that you will not incur a cancellation charge during the Switching Window, which is the period beginning 49 days before the fixed term period is due to end on 31 March 2016.
https://www.cooperativeenergy.coop/siteassets/pdfs/fair-and-square-march-16-v2-additional-terms-and-conditions.pdf14. We will contact you approximately 6 weeks before 31 March 2016 to inform you of our tariffs that are available after that date and your options in respect of these tariffs. Unless another tariff is agreed with you or you change supplier, you will be moved onto our standard variable rate tariff.0 -
One of the reasons I wanted to switch from Coop is because their online system is so unbelievably dire. And this is AFTER they launched a new online system which meant I had no access to my account for a couple of months!! IT systems NOT their strong point!!
The reason I posted my original question was that I wanted to check the t&cs in my original tariff but when I clicked on the link in the welcome pack supplied online it only takes you to the t&cs for currently available tariffs. A lesson learned - print them off or at least save as a PDF. However a further bit of googling has eventually turned them up
I think I now have the confirmation I needed that there is no exit charge during the Switching Window which is the period beginning 49 days before the fixed term period is due to end on 31 March 2016. Not clear if 31 March is included in that 49 days but I should definitely be in the clear to switch tomorrow.
I don't care if Coop comes top by miles in any comparison I never want to deal with them again. It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0 -
