UKPC Ticket for not showing disabled badge
Royston46
I was doing some shopping in a retail park yesterday, and I was parked quite legally in a disabled bay. I couldn't understand why I had been given a UKPC ticket when I got back to the car, as I remember putting the badge in the window as me & my wife got out of the car. Apparently, unbeknown to us, a gust of wind must have blown the disabled badge onto the floor of the car, as that's where we found it when we looked.
The fine is for £100. I tried to get onto their appeals page online, but it just kept coming up "page not available". Can someone help as to what I do next please?
Thanks

yes, please read the NEWBIES sticky thread near the top of this forum, and use the BPA template in blue text to appeal this INVOICE (its an INVOICE , not a FINE , you made up that F word yourself, as slang)
do not alter that wording, do not admit who was driving at all !!
just mention a passenger in the car is covered by the EA2010 and has a valid BB and enclose a scan or picture copy with the appeal, but not indicating who was driving and dont fall for it if they ask for the drivers details, decline the request
by the way , DO NOT send in the appeal until day 25 after the event, so in about 23 or 24 days time, the reasons are explained in that newbies thread, dont be early with it , dont be late with it either, so we will say 3 weeks today is ok
please also note that the BB is not valid on private car parks or private land, your blue booklet tells you this that came with your BB
the EQUALITY ACT (EA2010) is what applies for those spaces and overrides any other considerations , so complain to the landowner or managing agent for that retail park and INSIST on a cancellation
if UKPC dont cancel they will send the KEEPER a popla code, in which case you draft a popla appeal based on the examples in post #3 of the NEWBIES sticky thread
you wont win this on "what happened", you will win this on legal arguments , providing you do not reveal the drivers details , I cannot stress that enough0 -
Either a gust of wind (which there was not a lot of yesterday) or a ppc walking too close and accidentally shaking the car.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

Follow the advice above, in a proper and fair world stating you had a disabled badge and it fell off would suffice,.
But this is PPC scam land where there is money to be made for little or no effort, and bonuses for parking attendants on the minimum wage that can't get a better job.
UKPC are well known for their greedy, sharp practice, money making ways too!0 -

Mighty gust of wind to displace a normal Blue Badge. At least it would have been to blow my father-in-law's blue badge which is quite substantial.
If you forgot to display it, then just say so (on this forum at least).0 -

Tend to agree, I can't remember having a gust of wind in my car with the doors and windows closed, that could dislodge my Mother in Law's BB.......oh hang on!:o0 -
It is not a fine. It's a scam from a scumbag company and easy to beat at POPLA stage appeal. Read the NEWBIES sticky thread.I was doing some shopping in a retail park yesterday, and I was parked quite legally in a disabled bay. Do NOT say who was driving in your appeal. Use the template (blue writing) from the NEWBIES thread and just say 'an occupant of the car is disabled and did display their Blue badge - see attached scan for your information. If rejecting this appeal please explain your reasons for failing to make a reasonable adjustment as part of your statutory duties as a service provider, which flow from the Equality Act 2010.'
Try the UKPC appeals page again unless your PCN isn't coming up at all on the site. Maybe you are rushing it too early or maybe they've cancelled the ticket up front (I've seen that happen, maybe where a new employee forgot to take photos or something). If it doesn't come up on the site, do not appeal it until/if it does.
Test this by putting the PCN and VRN in under 'UKPC photos' on the same website and see whether or not the PCN is live yet/has it got photos uploaded? If the PCN is showing as live then try the appeals page again, appealing as advised, NOT calling yourself the driver.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
