Best Account For Travelling

Options
I have a halifax account as my current account and I find that the % and fixed charge that is applied every time my debit card is used abroad is a bit rubbish,

Does anyone have any suggestions for a current account that I could open for use abroad that has lesser charges than Halifax?

The fixed charge of only £1.50 is the least of your costs. You are also paying 2.75% on top of the exchange rate.

Try Norwich & Peterborough Gold Current A/c (no cash withdrawal fees, no foreign exchange loading).
  • Depending where you are based, Metro bank is a good option.
  • I have been using Norwich & Peterborough Building Society (part of Yorkshire BS) Gold account for the same purpose as you talk about. Had an account for quite a few years now. No charges for overseas use. It does require a deposit of £500 pm but that can be moved out again if overseas travel not imminent. They have Internet banking. I am very satisfied with them.
