    The MSE article was responding to some people who claimed that it uses less energy to keep the heating/water switched on 24/7 compared to using a timer. That is not what is being claimed here. Here we are saying that if the hot water cylinder is well insulated it does not use significantly more energy to keep it on 24/7.
