O/S Daily Wednesday 10 February 2016

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

Morning everyone

Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x

Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.

DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 now getting ready for work. DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly.

Still dark, seems drier underfoot but became really chilly last night at teatime, so think there may be a frost this morning, wind has increased too.

Dinner last night was scampi, chips, beans/veg for the menfolk, I had fish, jacket potato and veg, ice cream for dessert. I remembered to get the beef out of the freezer – so I’ll be cooking a beef casserole later – I want to do a potato bake to go with it, the potato bake takes quite a long time to cook so as the oven will be on I want to utilise the oven space – but may have difficulty with fitting the casserole dish and potato bake in the oven – will see what I can do. I’ll serve the beef with veg – may do some dumplings.

Work yesterday was rather busier than we expected – started off slow and then went rather manic again, not really sure where all these customers are coming from. I’m taking the appointments today and when I checked the diary I’m back to back appointments from when we open to when I finish at lunchtime – deep joy! At least the morning will pass quickly. Only working until lunchtime, then on days’ off.

Keep safe and well x

    Morning Nmic and all,

Just off to work, slept better last night, so feel more human today.

Nothing interesting to report, apart from we conquered the VaT return last night :)

    Spag Bol for dinner.

    Take care all X

  • Morning all, two nights good sleep, one 8 hours (unknown for many yesrs) and nearly 6 hours last night so am feeling like a human in contrast to a wombat with a headache . Still falling asleep on the bus home though.

Worked late last night and came in at 8.30 to make pancakes. I don't like them so can just carry on without anyone experiencing an upsetting gap between pancakes, you can imagine the horror of a pancakey gap! Had some soup, cup of tea and went to bed to read.

Today I have meetings in the morning, am supervising in the afternoon, hope that I can finish then.

Pouring rain, I was cold in bed too so am going to need the heating on before my shower, not very moneysavingexpert really, at least I will be using my ancient person pass on the buses.
Hope everyone has a good day.

    Good morning everyone.

No idea why I'm wide awake at this hour but I slept well and have no intention of getting up yet.

Yesterday started by my little laptop, which is kept upstairs, refusing to print. Everything else worked apart from printing so I went downstairs to use the big laptop. Whilst doing that one of the builders turned up at about 8.15am, unexpectedly, to have another go at fixing the new leak under the front door. I was at my most unglamorous and hardly dressed for visitors!

The bloke worked hard, took off the weather bar and lots of things. He asked to borrow my hairdryer...I've never ever owned one so that threw him. Luckily he had his heat gun and used that to dry out part of the floor.

Food was the last of the leftovers from Glasgow with some home made potato salad. Today will be something with eggs again. I must do a shop at the end of the week.

Today will be a 'work' one. I've got emails to send out and a couple of IVs to phone.

I hope everyone has a good day.
  • Morning all,
Love the phrase wombat with a headache AOD, it describes me to a T at the moment, I slept 12 - 1 and then 5-6, argh.
Anyway fish fed, hubby has a cuppa, I'm off to help with the school run and then to work.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

Chilly but clear this morning, yesterday afternoon was lovely (the morning was very wet though).

Stayed at DDs Monday night, we have painted a couple of walls in her living room and it looks really good. Left her with a clean and tidy flat, took ages to get home as there was an accident on the Erskine Bridge, hope everyone is ok.

Back to work today after our short half term, I'll be really confused today thinking it's Monday.

Had some sad news last night, my 87 year old Aunt died. Not unexpected and very peaceful, my cousin was with her. Lots of problems with the family, Aunt's son very controlling. I don't think I will be going to the funeral partly as it will be difficult to get time off work to travel to Wales and also because I signed the lasting power of attorney and want to stay out of the way of Aunt's son, he's very dangerous.

Need to put the dust sheets from decorating on the airers, empty the DW and go for a shower.

    Take care. XX

    Morning all.

Just a few things to do today which shouldn't take long but the main thing is I want to bath and groom the dogs. 'Ginge' has her op on Friday and I want to give her a wash and clean up before then. Of course it's no good doing one dog without the other so 'Blackun' is going to have the same treatment.

Didnt sleep very well. I was mithering about Mom again.

    Onwards and forwards

    Have a great day all

    Morning everyone,

Well I guess the best thing about going back to work is having a day off, when we were discussing which three days I would do my initial hope would be to do Mon, Tues and Wed but that didn't suit my supervisor so was asked to do Thursday instead, so glad this morning :)
Had a good lie in, didn't realise just how tired I was.

Am going to have a leisurely breakfast then go and spend some time with Bill, get him out for a nice long walk and we can both get some fresh air. Then this afternoon will just chill, do some reading etc, lovely.
Camelot, condolences m'dear on the loss of your Aunty, am sure she would understand any decision you make re her funeral x

    Take care everyone x

Good Morning everyone ,bit nippy this morning at the moment Just been and done my first shop of the month Easy-peasy :) two shops, Aldi's and Lidls and done and back home again :) I was out before the streets were aired :):):) I had my list and more or less stuck to it Very pleased as I only spent £14.83.I am not a shopper at all and I'm glad its all done and dusted for at least another 7 days minimum
We came third in the pub quiz last night and although we didn't win we had a good evening. My friend brought in some sausages that she had left after her family had gone home from a visit, and they had been uneaten. She's a veggie and knew I wouldn't waste them so they are nesting in my freezer awaiting next week when my DGS are on half term and they will I know wolf them down.
Hope everyone has a good day ,keep wrapped up warm and dry if possible
Islandgirl when I used to do the VAT returns for my brother we nicked named them the Vale of Tears as the forms were a nightmare to do at times :):):)
