I've received a a sms like this on my new sim card. Is it true.
you have failed to pay your fine as ordered. You must contact southend magistrates court immediatly on 01702283830 to prevent further enforcement. Quoting account number xxxxxx and division code 061.
Thanks

Sounds quite fishy to me. Get the number for the court off the internet and give them a call tomorrow if you want to be sure though0

Recycled number, suggest the same as above.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

According to this .gov website that is the number of the fines dept of the court so possibly not a scam even if you are not the fined person.0 -
I would be tempted to phone them back quote the account number and reference and when you get through to someone just say chase me and then hang up.
Possible someone gave up the number knwoing the courts have it or maybe coincidence?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

Is it true?! Surely you know whether you have failed to pay a fine to Southend Magistrates Court?!
If in doubt, look up the phone number of the court (in case the one in the text is fake) and ask them. Simple.0 -
Hi,
so if you were fined, at some time recently, then no doubt you have the original paperwork or notification of fine.
You may have forgotten that payment was due, so just check the details and use the contact number given on original to verify.
You may find that you will have incurred a further fine for late payment.0 -
If you live in Southend, have recently committed an offence for which you were fined and then forgot to pay the fine then it's not a scam.
I'm pretty sure you'll know the answer to this yourself.0 -
If you have no dealings with Southend it's possible someone may have provided the wrong contact details for themselves.0
-
OP - you seriously created a thread to ask this?
Wow, just wow.0 -
I think it is highly unlikely that courts would issue fines via text messagesI'm a greenfield sight for sore eyes, and sore eyes are just needing the light, the shapes, and the shadows of the space we share, before it splits into Thin Air.0
