Paint ceiling before or after fit spotlights ?

Hi, Soon will be having ceiling plaster-boarded & skimmed, then we want spots fitted ( inset into ceiling ) Is it best to do the mist coat + subsequent coats of paint before or after having new spots fitted ? Thanks

Plastering over a 'hole' causes a glob of plaster that either falls out all over the plasterer, causes the next coat to 'pull' or leave 'bits' in the final skim coat - trust me it's a PITA which, as has rightly been advised, is why it's better to skim a 'whole' flat area and then cut the holes in afterwards.
