Hi

i have a ba amex. I have to buy something for £10000. Charge is 2.5 %. Is it worth it for airmiles? 1.5 miles per pound spent. i can pay from bank direct with no charge.

Thanks

it depends what you plan to use the miles for. 15,000 miles could get you a return flight to Europe from London (with some cash) you could possibly buy the same flight for £250 saved in charges

If it's the Premium Plus BA Amex card, spending £10,000 will also get you a companion voucher, meaning when you buy a ticket using avios, a companion goes free (you still have to pay taxes for both though).

Redeeming this voucher on a long-haul first class flight, this will outweigh the extra 2.5% charge several times over.
