We were both supposed to go home today...

Car due in for fixing fuel filler cap fault.

But we've both been feeling carp the last few days. Today there was no way I could pack everything up. So about half an hour ago I waved OH goodbye and he's taking part one of luggage home with him. I have wheelchair and my Blue Badge at caravan in case of emergencies. He's left me with a couple of days worth of cold meals (mainly yummy quiches from the local Spar) plus a steak pie from Terry the Butcher that just needs shoving in the oven for 40 minutes to cook. Assuming I can actually light the oven of course!

OH's Uncle's Funeral is Friday afternoon, so if I manage OK overnight and tomorrow he'll stay on for that, and be back here Friday evening.

Think there's 4 other caravans in use in the field at the mo, so makes me feel better. When I used to stay on here for months at a time It never bothered me that I might be in field on my own, but I was fitter then, and could get onto our patio. On my own I'm limited to the deck as too unsafe to use steps. And the ramp is opposite side to patio, so if I used that it's too far to walk back to patio! (Roll Eyes Smiley).

At least OH has taken the big pot full of agapanthus for our next door neightbour with him. We've got a couple of pots full in our front garden that she was admiring, so we promised some when we split them. But one of the self seeded ones in giant pot at caravan had 3 flowering heads this hear, so we figure it will be romping away next year. And as it's in a pot she can leave it in for a few years - they have small children, so not much time for gardening!

    Sorry, rambling again!

Power cut for 5 hours today. Out came the emergency box. Matches (to light gas hob for boiling water) torch (to see in meter cupboard) backup phone charger.

The plumber installing the new boiler was well equiped, had powered up all his tools, including a radio, before he got to me. Electrician less impressed as he wired up but couldn't test.

DS2 even less impressed as no internet other than his phone.

It's a very safe place, even if I was all on my own. And I know people a bit even though I mostly don't see them any more. I suspect the local butcher's family might give me a hand in dire emergency, but my first port of call would be our lovely Plumber, who is a really lovely bloke. Plus the field is big, so in med emergency there's space for the air ambulance - our friend across the field was taken away in that a few years ago! She's OK now, or relatively so now she has the required meds.

In fact I'm prob safer here alone than at home! :rotfl:

Because when you're outside the UK, MSE shows time in GMT, so UK time is an hour ahead of GMT, and you, presumably, are an hour ahead of us as well.

It foxed me one year when I was abroad, too!

    Does anyone know any Montenegrin?

I need to know how to say a phrase in Montenegrin, and the language isn't listed in google translate.

(Just a dictionary isn't any good, because I need to know the verb construction, etc.)

Does it work running google translation in another similar language such as Croatian or Serbian? Worth a shot?
Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

Well, it does have Serbian, but the Montenegrins are trying to establish their own language, which I understand is very similar. I want to show them the respect of saying what I want to say in their own specific language.

I am trying to work out how high the eaves of my house are. Regular, new build, house. Regular room heights. Bedroom window frame touches the soffit.

So how long would a 5' person require a pole to be in order for that pole, with a brush on, to be used for washing gutter undersides etc.

There are plenty for sale that are 3metres (funny new-fangled measurement) ... but I figure that by the time I've used up 2-3' of the end of that gripping it and gaining control ... I'd end up being able to wash half the windows and get nowhere near the soffit/fascia.

Not going to do it this year, of course... just mulling how long a pole would need to be .... and wondering how many people bought a 3 metre pole excitedly, only to discover it wouldn't reach ....

Or maybe it is long enough .... I figure my toes to the tip of the brush would be 4.5 metres.

So ... how high is the soffit ...
