You definitely had an election michaels. It was for county councillors.

With a two slice toaster I reckon the slide facing the middle gets slightly more toasting as it also gets some heat from the element of the 'other' slot.

Possibly, the manufacturers adjust the heating elements to counter that?
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

I always encourage my students to vote, even if I don't think they'd vote the way I would. It's far too important to take sides.

I also stress to them that they
    - vote for the best government for the country not their own interests (because their money already does that for them).
    - have no obligation to tell the truth about who they voted for to any person or organisation they don't trust. It's a secret ballot and you can keep it so.

They answered that on lbc radio phone in last week.

People take their dogs for a walk.
Dog poops early on in the walk.
Owner bags up poop and rather than carrying it around, leaves it on tree branch hanging from bag handles.
At the end of the walk, owner go back past branch, retrieve bagged poop and take home to bin.
Occasionally owners forget to retrieve poop and it remains on branches.

Never. In. A. Million. Years. would I do that!

Crikey! They're not privatising elections or election notices now?

Re elections, just checked who won the game:

5 local wards have results in - mine doesn't. By the looks of it, it's all Conservative by a massive amount. e.g. most wards had two candidates, with Labour getting about 500-600 votes and conservatives getting 1600-2400 votes.

Ah, I misunderstood - mine must've been counted. My area's entirely Conservative, winning all five seats, no seats to others.

My area's entirely Conservative, with all other areas being a huge majority of Conservative.... except the "dodgy cheap seats" about 20 miles away, where there's a huge refugee prison too ... and they had most parties to vote for and the Conservatives won there too, but they only got half the seats (3) as others got some. Green/2, Labour & Coop/1, LibDem/1.

Across the whole area voting/the county, it ended up:

    32 Conservative
    11 Liberal Democrat
    2 Green
    1 Labour and Cooperative

    0 Independent or No Party
    0 Labour
    0 UKIP

It may be worth checking that you are definitely on the electoral roll, especially with the GE coming up. If a house has no registered voters, it may be that they don't post leaflets. Don't know, but ringing alarm bells.

Maybe his house is blacklisted "Here lives an argumentative chap .... avoid, avoid, avoid ... he'll engage you in pointless conversation about politics and end up winning the argument, whichever side you're on ... too smart ... don't leaflet/don't knock"

I think it's so easy for polling cards to get chucked with junk mail. It's a pain, but I always look through the leaflet junk, just in case.
The one time I didn't, when I was ill, I have a horrid feeling I chucked a 'missed you' delivery card.

What sort of party is Labour and Cooperative? Never heard of that.

    Edit....
    Found this basic outline.......

I'd never heard of the Cooperative party either. Some wiki basic info.....

I'm always a bit perplexed why local councillors have to have a party line anyway. Find it annoying, too. Very often a local issue is at odds with party policies, so how can that be good for the local area?

Sometimes Independents can bring a refreshing slant to things. I wish there were more.

I am of the impression, working in local government, that whoever is in charge, stability is quite important. Being in a swing area, where you are working to an agenda that keeps changing, would be an absolute nightmare. Then you want it to be well run and accountable, not someone's or a cabal's, personal fiefdom. Then you want the team in charge to have strategic vision to identify the needs of the local community and work towards meeting them, as well as being strong tactically to be able to meet that strategy while juggling conflicting demand of changes in government. Finally, strong financial management. These, factors, imo, are more important than what party is in control.
